It can be all too hard to talk to a parent about things that matter, and I imagine it's immeasurably more terrifying when speaking up left a permanent reminder of pain. Simple, to-the-point sentences like "He was wanted" and "he felt his honor wither away" really make the mood in this one. Good job.
