That's it, folks, I can't take it. In the hopes that maybe writing some of what I want to write will get me unblocked on the fic I'm trying to write, I'm giving in and running a commentfic meme for my Avatar!Zuko verse. Air, Water, Earth, Fire.

Long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony. Then, everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked. Only the Avatar, master of all four elements, could stop them, but when the world needed him most, he vanished.

A hundred years passed and the new Avatar crashed into the ice sheet that borders our village. Although he is the Fire Nation prince, and it's his family and his nation that have brought this war to the world, I have hope that inside Zuko lies the spark of greatness. In the end, he has to save the world.

Yeah, the amnesia bit was unfortunate in some ways. Zhao's meetings with Zuko would have had a certain extra something if he'd known that he used to make a hobby out of mouth-breathing on the Fire Lord's bald head.

To create from whole cloth is an idiom. It means to create from scratch, as if from fabric that has not alredy been cut to fit a pattern. In this case, Mai and Zuko need to get with the baby making.

I don't think it's a very common one.

The Fire Lord in this verse is a sockpuppet on Mai's hand. She moves it while Zuko hides behind her and does its squeaky voice.

In all seriousness, how does Mai have the right to head a regency? Is her family that closely related to the royals?

Anyway, Zuko and Mai are hoping that Mai will soon be the Firelord's mother, and that until then that no one will want to challenge the man who took out the previous Firelord, and the woman who took on Azula.

I know it, but since I'm ESL, a more literal meaning was the first thing that popped into my head.

It's kind of hilarious to imagine them scurrying about trying to make a baby nownownow. Iroh probably sends all kind of fertility teas by hawk post.

Mai's parents are probably over the moon that their daughter is now the main power in the Fire Nation. She's still quite young so no doubt she'll need a "guiding hand" from dear mom and dad, y/n?

They'll try... and then Mai will pin them to the wall with her kinves, XD.

I have this lovely mental image I need to get down at some point, of Mai on the throne in a variant of the Fire Lord regalia, with patterns in her makeup that are supposed to mean that she sits on the throne by right of personal conquest; probably hauling out some elements from the Sun Warriors.

I need art of this now! Even if her official title is princess regent in this fic, I really want to see her being all badass "I am the ruler, damn it!"
