Vid: Bring Zuko Home

Disclaimer: "Bring Him Home" from Les Misérables was written by Claude-Michel Schönberg, with original French lyrics by Alain Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel, and English lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer. This recording is from the 25th anniversary concert at the O2 in London, sung by Alfie Boe and produced by Cameron Mackintosh. The footage in this vid comes from Avatar: the Last Airbender, which belongs to Nickelodeon, as well as Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko.

Summary: Iroh just wants his nephew safe and whole.

Creator Commentary: I made this the same day as Mai/Zuko Something Good, right after downloading Sony Vegas, and I only made it because I couldn't find any other vids wih the same idea, which I just couldn't figure out, because really, Iroh is Jean Valjean (I have seen the idea show up in fanmixes, however, so I can't be the only one thinking this.) I love that song and it's a perfect fit! Great editing, too, and great to see these great scenes together.

Thank you! I was just like, "Why! why has nobody else made this!" (This is my favorite version of "Bring Him Home" too. Alfie Boe's voice is just so powerful.

Another Les Miz song I think is a good fit for ATLA is "I Dreamed a Dream" for Hama though I don't know if there would be enough footage with a one-episode character. With liberal editing of the song, maybe.

I think that would run into the same problem that I had when I tried to do an Ursa and Ozai vid to "King of Anything" by Sara Bareilles. The show gives us these fascinating, well developed characters that are in just a few scenes. As you said, the footage just isn't there.

...back in a bit, crying.

Okay. The world seems convinced that I need to finish up Les Mis, and clearly I must go along with it.

Just- argh. Lovely slow, calm editing with a quiet tension, and beautiful song/clips.

The book or the musical? If you mean the musical, I highly rccomend the 25th anniversary consert. The cast is amazing. Not only Alfie, but everybody.

Doing vids to slow songs is harder for me than doing them to fast songs. Not sure why.

*nod* That's the version boyfriend started showing me. We got sidetracked, and right now every time we meet there's no time to finish it off- but every time I hear a song from there (usually by way of AMVs), it gives me chills.

It's easy to match beats with fast chops, but for slower things you have to actually fiddle around and *match* them.

It's long. It's what, three, four hours? I find the soundtrack is good for road trips.

There's that, there's also that I was doing a lot of action scenes, and it just feels strange having those action scense set to this slow, sad song. But canon did it with "The Last Agni Kai" so...
