This is another aspect of religion in Spec Fic that interests me, the use of belief to fuel functional magic. Every time anyone says they don't believe in fairies, a fairy dies, it's a mage's belief and will that make's a spell work, that sort of thing. It usually isn't treated as religion, except when gods and goddesses also can die if people stop believing in them, but it's a similar idea.
