Small furry and feathery update

Sully had his two week checkup, and the vet says he's doing beautifully.  All of his bruising is gone, his wounds are closed, and his feathers are growing in.  The foot and wing we were worried might be broken weren't, and we're letting him perch for a few minutes at a time to build up his foot muscles.  We've moved his hospital tank down into the room with the other birds during the day, and oh, he's so excited to be with his buddies!

On the other hand, we're not sure we can keep Daisy.  She has started attacking Ziggy, and even Solo, our great big lab mix.  We have her on a leash with my mom, and we're doing obedience and everything with her, but she just won't quit.  She cornered Zig Sunday, and went for his throat while we were right next to her.  We've had her for almost a year now, and she has always been a challenge, but this, this is new.  She may have to be someone's only dog.  We're talking to the vet and a behaviorist, but...

We've never given up a dog before.

I'm so glad Sully is doing better! It's really uplifting to hear since I'm also going to Physical Therapy and some days it feels like I'm standing still with it. :-P

Arg! Daisy! Behave!!! Sigh, I'm sorry to hear you're having problems with her. Here's hoping for a positive outcome.

The vet called right after I posted this to tell us that Daisy has hyperthyroid, which is most likely what's causing this... Here's hoping.

Oogh, hyperthyroid- just a few months ago, we took one of our cats in to see what was up with him, and that was precisely why he'd got so skinny and bouncy and greasy-furred. He's been on pills and is a lot more chill and in keeping with his age (and a healthier weight, too).

The vet also told us it's really rare in dogs, especially little dogs, much rarer than in cats, and in dogs, it's usually caused by thyroid cancer, so we're freaking out again. Damn it. We're getting her much more thoroughly checked out tomorrow by a specialist.

Good thing about your cat. My friend's mom had hyperthyroid, and they ended up having to just take it out and do replacement therapy. She was pretty emaciated before the surgery.
