My point in what I was saying is that when it comes to the Jewish people, all we ever hear about is about the Holocaust.
This is it exactly. When that's the only story about Jewish people that non-Jews see, that's all we are in the common consciousness. It's a whole lot of no fun to remind somebody of the genocide of your people just by being there all the time. And from a more selfish point of view, I would really like to see more Jewish characters outside of comedy movies and Holocaust fiction, just because I want to read Jewish characters without being totally depressed.
Thank you. I feel so awkward doing it. Who am I to be teaching about Judaism? I'm not some kind of expert, I'm just a nice Jewish girl who reads a lot.
