Wow, sounds like the shoving-into-the-pool scene is pretty common. I want to see a scene like that too, and then our heroes can guilt about it, and be sincerely in the wrong, and still have to find the killer, (if a mystery) with this hanging over them, and wouldn't that be a lovely conflict to build the second half of a two part episode around? Or one where they throw someone into the pool who swims and then struggles back into their chair, because they never said they can't move their legs, damn it, they aren't paralyzed, they have [insert other disability that necessitates the use of a wheelchair].
