No, I understood. But the idea of "I'm Jewish" not being ok with everybody in the US, and different degrees of not ok. The whole idea is sometimes foreign to people who grew up in liberal cities. (I drove through a large chunk of the South on my roadtrip, (including areas that I probably shouldn't call the South but do because I'm a mid-Atlantic east coaster), so I ranged through varying degrees of uncomfortable.)
