I'm extremely thankful for my mother (and my grandmother, who was almost disappointed that the Vietnam War ended to early for my youngest uncle to get his draft card so that she could burn it for him) who has supported me through my illness, taught me how to think, and taught me that my civic duty to speak out, protest, and vote were vitally important as a patriot. I have my share of awful relatives though. Fortunately they don't speak to my side of the family.
