Sounds quite ominous, and hilarious. I have a story similar to that, which will find its way into a blog post. It's a good thing Mom doesn't read this, or she'd murder me for it.
My family is as Ashkenazi as they come. I'm a natural blond. As it happens, I'm not much one for luck, but I do think it's quite rude to name a kid after someone living, doubly so for Harry in this instance.

I've always been a fan of "morally ambiguous" fantasy. so much fantasy feels unsatisfying to me because it lacks any shades of grey, or any characters who are sympathetic but who do bad things, or vice versa. Since this fic is entirely character driven and has no outside antagonist, I have to have my characters not always act as they should if I want conflict. I've been having some intellectual fun with the pet the dog/kick the dog characterization tactic.
