Monette claims her series is non-medieval (the last book has trains, apparently) but neither are they modern. Her Booth short stories are circa 1930s, but they drift more to Horror than Fantasy.
But in order for the original timeline to have existed, we must posit some Harry-prime who initially cast the glamour on Severus and pushed Eileen at Tobias. And the because this is a time loop, Harry IS the Harry-prime that made those choices. Thus, even if altering the timeline would have created a paradox and destroyed the universe, if Harry had chosen a different course of action, those would have been the actions he had to take to prevent the paradox.
Actually, it's the Potions and Snitches reviews I've been reading. I haven't worked through all the LJ ones yet. As to Ginny, she pings on my radar as 'Popular Highschool Girl'. So, while I'm currently tempted to drown her, I think she's growing out of it.
