It might be because writing them inching towards understanding is significantly more painful than writing another fight. Harry might be thick, but he isn't that thick. He gets that Snape's main beef is being left in an abusive home, and he's mostly pointing out the side of that that most irks Snape because it suits him to.
Fortunately for everyone concerned, Ginny does stay out of it. Seeing as Harry kind of erm... won that round, she lets him take care of it. Mind, it's still a lesson she's going to have to learn, but I (thank God) won't have to write her learning it. she's seventeen, actually, because everyone retook the year they suffered with Snape and the Carrows running the school, so she would be in seventh year. Not that that changes your point.
