One of the things that drives me crazy about Hermione and keeps me from being interested in her is how little intellectual flexibility and creativity she has. It's a lousy example of what female intelligence, or intelligence in general is supposed to be. Things are as they are, and that's that in Hermione's eyes.
Why do you say the sciences particularly? The humanities need creativity as much as the sciences to flourish.
