As best I'm able to figure, Snape heard "The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches... Born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies," which is the first part of the prophesy. Voldemort didn't know any more than that, and therefore didn't know about the "will mark him as his equal" bit. Peter I don't think knew about the prophesy in 1980/1981. I think that that was reserved for Dumbledore, Snape, and Voldemort. the Potters possibly knew there was a prophesy, but likely didn't know the contents.
Yes, this is true. Of course, that would have involved telling Snape, who might have let something slip to Harry, which would have negated the "I am about to die" thing. Harry would have known he wasn't about to die, because he had yet to sire Snape. also, I don't think .Dumbledore would have trusted Snape with Harry.
