Hmmm, I hadn't seen the 'dies' vs. 'died' aspect 'til you pointed it out, but I see how one could take it that way. At least it might explain Voldemort starting in on the new crop, rather than everyone everywhere with July birthday. Or even September (sept=7). Or born 7 months into their parents' marriage ;)
Ahhh Occlumeny, wasn't that fun? Especially Snape's freak out after the pensive incident. Seems completely over the top until you do the math in book seven and realize Harry stuck his Voldemort infested head in Severus' bowl of "101 reasons why I'm betraying the Dark Lord".
BTW: When you read that scene, do you get the feeling that Voldemort was in Harry's mind, nudging him to look?
