I do have to admit I find it hard to believe that Dumbledore would be stupid enough to assign Snape to teaching Harry Occlumency, even with the fact that he was worried about Voldemort using Harry's connection to attack Dumbledore. After all, wouldn't he be equally concerned about Voldemort finding out that Snape was the spy? He had to also know that Snape teaching Harry Occlumency would be pointless. Dumbledore had to have an ulterior motive. I always kinda thought that the pensieve was full of the memories that he needed out of his head while he pointed a wand at James Potter's lookalike.

It could be read that way, especially the line "a reckless daring seized him," but I think it has more to do with Harry's natural curiosity and his perpetual paranoia with regards to Snape.

Talk Potter with me all you want. I like picking over mostly unambiguous children's novels.
