Groovy. Mum is the British word for Mom, used throughout the Harry Potter series, even in the American printing, so, since it was in the American printing (and I'm not likely to find a good Brit-picker, so I'm only using the Britishisms common to the American printing)Mum is the word of choice.

I am British, but I'm pretty sure you used 'Mom' in your story when Ron's talking about his Mother, I was Brit-picking in the hopes you'd change it to 'Mum'...unless I'm getting the wrong end of the stick here and you're saying that the American version uses the word 'Mom' instead. Sorry. Am very confused...
