Oh no, he wasn't even talking about the early Roman and Jewish (but mostly Roman) persecution of the Christians. He was talking about the Crucifixion itself, with the slight implication that this was a way for Jews to be cleansed of their sins. I should have listened when my teacher said "don't read the preface."
I refuse to feel guilt about Slavery (maybe shame that my country did that) but that doesn't mean I won't work to fight modern white privilege!
