The door unlocked, and the guard stood aside. Ty Lee stepped out into the corridor and cartwheeled once, just to show she still could. Mai’s steps hitched as she fought not to run, and the Kyoshi Warriors hung back, but Ty Lee just couldn’t make herself.
But she stopped on the threshold of the tower. She stopped and stood half in the sunlight and half under the stones.
And the world out there was a world without the war, a world without Azula, a world that wasn’t... hers. She wrapped her arms around herself and stared until the others arrived.
