In y head, dragons just like hanging out on volcanic islands, any volcanic islands, deep in the mountain where it's warm, and the home island for these guys got a little too crowded.
I think Byrke are letting the world have its hands full with prejudice against benders, but it would be really cool for them o do some kind of multilayered prejudice.
