Do you mean Sailing to Sarantium? He gave all of the real places a slightly different name. Sailing to Sarantium has a sequel, Lord of Emperors, ans I have managed to get my hands on neither. My favorite of the books he's written is The Lions of Al-Rassan which takes place in the early parts of the Spanish Reconquista.
