An adorable puppy wrapped in a blanket

How can you stay mad at a face like that?  How?

I don't know, the way she's looking at the camera/phone is kind of creepy. Like she's plotting something . . . O.O

Oh, she's always plotting something.

Yeah, this one looks like trouble. :-)

She is, actually. She's in big trouble right now, because she keeps picking fights with Ziggy, my poodle, who keeps trying to stop her from bullying the smaller dogs. *shrug* puppies.

Or is incredibly satisfied with herself. Could be either.

She made herself a nest. There is nothing better than her nest. Of course she's satisfied.

Heh, a nest, are you sure she's not part cat or bird? ;-P

Dogs nest all the time. Never met one that didn't. Her pack mate, my poodle, nests in the strangest places (and also some normal ones):

Ah, I must admit I know nothing about dogs except that they bark, and even that is up for debate. A gray poodle, how cute!

Definitely not up for debate. They bark, God, do they bark.

That's Ziggy. Daisy is exactly like Ziggy was at that age, so of course they hate each other.

LMAO!!!! Well they are siblings. I was like that with my brother, he is two years older, the middle kid and I was the youngest, the only girl, and my mom really wanted a girl. You can imagine how that went. :-)

Ziggy is the older brother who takes care of everybody and insists everybody follow the rules, and Daisy is the little sister yelling "You're not Dad! You can't tell me what to do!" It's fun.

Yeah I bet. :-) This is such a cute little family you have. My mom and I are thinking about getting a dog. I don't want one that gets too big, and I would like a mutt since they're tough.

I advise poodle mixes. Very athletic and smart, and they don't shed. Also, they come in all sizes, and since they're pretty common, there are usually some needing homes at any rescue. Be warned though, they know exactly how smart they are, and if they think they're smarter than you, good luck. Also, read read read. As a first time dog owner, you're going to be seeing something knew out of your dog every day. If you're still in NM, there are some rescue organizations I can put you in touch with when the time comes. They're mostly central NM though.

I'm actually in the border, on the Mexican side. I'm going to physical therapy here so I can recover from my accident. We actually had a dog before. He was also a mutt and he was incredible.

Well, I know absolutely nothing about organizations outside the US, but I wish you luck. I don't know how I would live without dogs.

Ah, the perils of living with miniature wolves in the home, even ones born and bred to read human cues and emotions. I'm convinced there would have been far more blood in the history of human-canine relations if it weren't for their pack instincts and our ability to breed and train them.

The nice thing is that we fit just about the same evolutionary niche as wolves, endurance based pack hunters, and we share some similar social patterns, so we fit pretty well with dogs. Also, it's not just that dogs have been born and bred to read humans, but also the reverse. I've been around dogs since the day I was born. The only reason my family is able to handle eleven the way we do is that I know exactly what they're trying to say to me, and I know how to tell them what I need to tell them. That, and my chow/akita mix and lab/border collie mix are excellent alphas and help keep order.
