At Least the Online Release will Prevent Piracy

So in less than twenty four hours, new Legend of Korra episodes will be on the actual TV for what may be the last time in forever.  Unlike a fair bit of this fandom, I don't think even a massive raise in ratings for these last two episodes will change Nickelodeon's mind about moving to an all digital release.  I think that the Nick execs made up their mind that Korra couldn't succeed, and so provided it with none of the tools necessary to make it succeed, and I also think that at this point, they would be able to talk themselves out of recognizing even massive success.  So I am not going to plead with my followers to watch, but I for one would kind of like this franchise's TV run to end with a bang rather than a whimper.

Also, I'm jealous, because I'm stuck at home finishing up the summer semester, instead of at Comic Con with all the cool kids.

I used to go to Anime Expo back when I was a kid (I even cosplayed!) but even that was enough to way overstimulate me, and I could only go because my parents were willing to take me, and then bundle me in the car after I ran out of steam. Cons tend to be very disability unfriendly in general, and the bigger the con, the less friendly it is, both because of logistics, and also if feels like they've made the choice that we're not worth the cost of accommodating.

I was going to quit after season two, but I'm too much of a completionist, and I still write fanfic in the Avatar fandom, so want to know all the canon. And I'm glad I didn't because season three is actually really good! I'm flabbergasted! I was really expecting to suffer through it.

Friday nights would have been a bad time slot for that block (there's a reason it's known as the Friday night death slot) and not just because I keep missing it to go to temple. Most people in one of the demographics most interested in Korra are out on a Friday evening. But making a "prime time" block with sophisticated cartoons that appealed to high schoolers and young adults, that included serialized cartoons like Korra, a good dub of a good currant anime, and maybe another high quality serialized American cartoon would have probably worked. But it would have meant acknowledging that their viewing demographics for that block could be different from their viewing demographics for their daytime cartoons.

Sigh, why don't they hire us? We could likely split an exec's salary, and still make more money for them.
