That's it, folks, I can't take it. In the hopes that maybe writing some of what I want to write will get me unblocked on the fic I'm trying to write, I'm giving in and running a commentfic meme for my Avatar!Zuko verse. Comment with up to five requests, and I’ll guarantee you at least one commentfic. I’ll probably answer with more, knowing me.
weirdlet ,
fanficforensics,
beboots, and
floranna get seven requests and a guarantee of two fics, because
beboots and
floranna are the best betas ever, and
weirdlet and
fanficforensics just because.
Also, the 'verse has a title now, Kindle the Wind!
Air, Water, Earth, Fire.
Long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony. Then, everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked. Only the Avatar, master of all four elements, could stop them, but when the world needed him most, he vanished.
A hundred years passed and the new Avatar crashed into the ice sheet that borders our village. Although he is the Fire Nation prince, and it's his family and his nation that have brought this war to the world, I have hope that inside Zuko lies the spark of greatness. In the end, he has to save the world.

Korra as the waterbending sifu to Zuko's successor

"Come on, kid, you got to flow your way through the stances." She grabbed Jinora's arms and pulled her through the move like a marionette.
"You sure you're not an earthbender?" Jinora asked shakily. The woman had arms like pylons. No one that old had any business being anything other than wizened and frail.
Her new sifu melted the ice between them and hurled it at Jinora. Yelping, she jumped out of the way, sliding on the ice. Korra tossed her head, grinning widely. "That answer your question."
"I can do that too," Jinora said seriously. "And I'm an earthbender."
Sifu Korra chuckled. "Kid, I've talked to your earthbending teacher. You are not an earthbender."
Jinora thought maybe this would be a good time to die. Maybe if she asked nicely Sifu Korra would teach her how to sink herself into the ice. "Can I try that water whip again?"
"Go right ahead," Sifu Korra smirked. "I'm not stopping you."
Jinora lifted up the water that was trying to freeze back into the floor of the training ground and flung it at at Korra hard, lashing her arm, but when she tried to pull the water back, it splashed at her feet.
Sifu Korra rubbed her arm. "You. Stances. Flow."
Jinora rolled her eyes. "You know, your movements aren't very flowing either."
"Yeah, well, that's because I'm boss," She folded her arms. "And maybe someday, if you ever get to be as boss as me, you can move like a creaky old woman too."

Date: 2012-05-07 03:21 pm (UTC)The first time Zuko struck a Fire Nation solider in anger
Date: 2012-04-28 07:10 pm (UTC)"I'm trying!" he yelled. He took his stance again, glaring at his teacher's stupid face. Something flashed in the man's eyes. "I'll do it again."
"What is the point?" the man sneered. "You're just going to fail again, and I will be left to explain to the Firelord why the second prince's son is a weakling and a failure."
He felt his legs step forward, and his hand thrust out at the man, the fire bursting forth into the air, and to Zuko, it felt cold, colder than the helpless rage that had fueled it.
The hand slammed into his wrist, and the man's fingers closed and tightened. He remembered what his father had said about this man when he had brought him to Zuko, how this was a master firebender, and a great veteran of the war, and Zuko should be grateful that the Firelord had pulled him away from the front lines to teach a talentless brat like him. But he wasn't grateful. he wasn't. The skin of the man's forearm was angry red, like a new sunburn, because his teacher might have been fast enough to dodge, but he wasn't fast enough to escape unscathed. Good, Zuko thought. he was glad.
His teacher Zuko's wrist in, changing its angle across his young student's body. He nudged at his legs to adjust his stance. And his hand tightened further around Zuko's wrist until it hurt. "Hold onto that anger, my prince. That is what you will need."
"Yes, Master Jeong Jeong," Zuko almost spat.
"Drill it again."
Zuko pulled his leg back and started again, and later, after he had burned away all of the fire, Zuko saw his teacher's face in his mind, and the fear that had flickered across it as he had called Zuko worthless, and he wondered at it, trying to figure out why he had looked so relieved when Zuko had almost burned him.
