attackfish: Yshre girl wearing a kippah, text "Attackfish" (Jet Juko TDL quote)
[personal profile] attackfish
That's it, folks, I can't take it.  In the hopes that maybe writing some of what I want to write will get me unblocked on the fic I'm trying to write, I'm giving in and running a commentfic meme for my Avatar!Zuko verse.  Comment with up to five requests, and I’ll guarantee you at least one commentfic.  I’ll probably answer with more, knowing me.  [livejournal.com profile] weirdlet , [livejournal.com profile] fanficforensics, [livejournal.com profile] beboots, and [livejournal.com profile] floranna  get seven requests and a guarantee of two fics, because [livejournal.com profile] beboots  and [livejournal.com profile] floranna  are the best betas ever, and [livejournal.com profile] weirdlet and [livejournal.com profile] fanficforensics just because.

Also, the 'verse has a title now, Kindle the Wind!

Air, Water, Earth, Fire.

Long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony. Then, everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked. Only the Avatar, master of all four elements, could stop them, but when the world needed him most, he vanished.

A hundred years passed and the new Avatar crashed into the ice sheet that borders our village. Although he is the Fire Nation prince, and it's his family and his nation that have brought this war to the world, I have hope that inside Zuko lies the spark of greatness. In the end, he has to save the world.

Featuring miraculously not a cloudgrandbaby Jinora.

~*~

"Come on, kid, you got to flow your way through the stances." She grabbed Jinora's arms and pulled her through the move like a marionette.

"You sure you're not an earthbender?" Jinora asked shakily. The woman had arms like pylons. No one that old had any business being anything other than wizened and frail.

Her new sifu melted the ice between them and hurled it at Jinora. Yelping, she jumped out of the way, sliding on the ice. Korra tossed her head, grinning widely. "That answer your question."

"I can do that too," Jinora said seriously. "And I'm an earthbender."

Sifu Korra chuckled. "Kid, I've talked to your earthbending teacher. You are not an earthbender."

Jinora thought maybe this would be a good time to die. Maybe if she asked nicely Sifu Korra would teach her how to sink herself into the ice. "Can I try that water whip again?"

"Go right ahead," Sifu Korra smirked. "I'm not stopping you."

Jinora lifted up the water that was trying to freeze back into the floor of the training ground and flung it at at Korra hard, lashing her arm, but when she tried to pull the water back, it splashed at her feet.

Sifu Korra rubbed her arm. "You. Stances. Flow."

Jinora rolled her eyes. "You know, your movements aren't very flowing either."

"Yeah, well, that's because I'm boss," She folded her arms. "And maybe someday, if you ever get to be as boss as me, you can move like a creaky old woman too."

Love, love LOVE badass Korra! I think she would give Pakku a run for his money. ;D

This teaching style will get passed on again and again and get progressively more hideous through the generations, until one day it will consist of the teacher dropping her student head first into a volcano and telling her to save herself. With waterbending.

Yes, Korra is definitely the boss here ;)! I gather Zuko lived much longer than Aang did in this verse. I wonder whether airbending is part of probending now, since there are probably a lot more airbenders in this verse compared to canon. Am now seeing Sifu Korra taking Avatar Jinora to a probending competition.

Yes, Zuko did, which also means he went up against Amon. Unfortunately, there are only a few hundred airbenders in the world, so they are not part of probending teams, but many referees have put together a theoretical rulebook for them in the hopes that someday... Sifu Korra is herself a legend of probending from the early days, and her student is going to learn to appreciate it, damn it.

I adore Korra in the new series and you got her spirit realloy well in this. I am also now even more intrigued at how the fight against him and Amon went...

Oh damn, I have even more prompts to give! I'll go add them.

Thank you! I adore Korra, and making her not the Avatar in this kinda hurt. I'm holding off on filling any more Korra era prompts until more episodes come out, but I definately am eager to get to them.

But she is a kick-ass teacher so I think that is as awesome. ^^

And when she's younger, she will help Zuko take on Amon, and he will be all "crazy teenagers, what did I do to deserve this?" And Iroh's ghost will laugh and laugh.
