Although if he did go on a quest, I tend to think he'd do a lot of the same things Aang does-- go on sidequests, fly a lot, spend too long on Kyoshi and befriend everyone (possibly not that last one). Aang, on the other hand... I don't think he'd stand for binding his wolf son.

If Aang's reaction to Appa being stolen is any indication, if anybody tried to chain his wolfy child up, Ragnarok would be the least of their worries.

Date: 2014-03-31 04:21 am (UTC)Better characterswap: Loki and Zuko. That would change things quite a bit. (Exiled!Loki would just treat the so-called quest as one big field trip and might not even bother trying to bring in the Avatar, for one thing.)
Aang would strike hard and fast without bothering to scheme or insult people, so he'd probably succeed in destroying Asgard. But then the surviving Aesir would just chain him up with a snake.
Fire Lord Loki would be a trainwreck. The hilarious kind that I would watch a cartoon about. And of course Zuko would try to win the throne. Why are you giving me plotbunnies, Fish? Do you hate me? Do you hate the idea of me finishing my current projects? Is that it?

Firelord Loki would be like Firelord Bugs Bunny. From a safe distance, it's hilarious. Couldn't you just see him trolling the crap out of Zuko and Azula?

Date: 2014-03-31 04:43 am (UTC)Fire Lord Loki would be awesome. Very awesome. He'd probably try to keep the throne just because watching Zuko try and fail would be hilarious. Azula, now... I wonder how Loki would deal with her. She, of course, would plot to unseat him, and Loki would enjoy that, too, but maybe he would try to get her and Zuko to fight for his amusement.
I wonder what he would do about the war. Probably his only nod to his role as Avatar would be ending it and watching the Fire Nation's imperial court freak out over it.

People who are going to go nuts and commit genocide are assholes with zero empathy long before they start the killing. I mean, he clearly was in a state of narcissistic rage at the end of Thor 1, and then Avengers, he was sadistically insane and unable to plan worth shit, but according to Thor and the information we have about him pre-canon, he wasn't exactly a narcissist before hand, and was much more of a long term effective plotter than anything in the rest of the MCU would suggest. People do not just go crazy-evil at one trigger, crazy, yes, possibly if pushed far enough, but he should have been showing signs of having empathy issues way earlier than the MCU suggests.

-Loki's idea of being worth something is being a king
-Loki sees humans as so far beneath him that empathy doesn't apply to them
-Loki doesn't think he could rule anything any better than humans
-So he wants the humans' respect and submission
-Even though it will never be enough, because they're as ants to him
-But a failure to get even that makes him truly worthless in his own eyes
