Birthday AU Commentfic Meme!

It’s my birth month, and to celebrate, I’m hosting a commentfic meme!  I’m in the mood to write some AU fics, so that’s the theme of the meme.  I’m open to both Avatar: the Last Airbender and Harry Potter requests, and I’m also taking requests in any of my existing AUs (Except Children of Mars), including the ones I established im my last commentfic meme, as well as new ones.  Comment with up to five requests, and I’ll guarantee you at least one commentfic.  I’ll probably answer with more, knowing me.  weirdlet , beboots , and floranna  get seven requests and a guarantee of two fics, because beboots  and floranna  are the best betas ever, and weirdlet  has a truly bizarre AU I inflicted on her rattling around in her head.  Also, anyone who wants me to write anything from my AU of Sun Child needs to ask weirdlet  and floranna , because it’s theirs.

I really, really like this. I've seen a few different mirror verses (they're my crack). And I've rarely seen a evil-Aang I'm satisfied with. There tends to be a tendency to give the (human) side of him either a "I'm going to force the world to be good" or a god-complex. I've never felt those worked, because that sort authoritarian mindset is so anthem to every bit of personality Aang has that it becomes essentially an OC. I really like that you focused on the Avatar State. While it makes it a clear AU, it allows and evil Aang that's... Aang. Irresponsible, playful, and still evil.

(You know, there a good chance Aang was the one who wipes out the Nomads in this AU)

Aang in this verse is going to conquer the word. Right after he finishes penguin sledding, and surfing on the elephant-koi, and riding hog-monkeys, and... And then he's going to conquer the world.

Or perhaps he managed to kill all but Gyatso (either because Aang isn't QUITE evil enough to kill his childhood mentor/father figure (or at least not quite evil enough that he kills without hesitation), or because Gyatso is just that badass, or a combination thereof), and it was Gyatso who did this, but not before being mortally wounded?

That, or perhaps some of them trapped him, but the others hid in the temples during the battle. Aang managed one last act of rage, collapsing the temples and everyone inside.

I'm imagining the penguin sledding is going to leave them bloody and bruised.

On a lighter note, ditch the sadism and it could become a hilarious crack fic.

Modern Day: Toph and Aang

Sometimes Aang saw the girl walking in the park with her parents, in stiff, handmade satin dresses. She never went on the swings or the slide, or left the sidewalk to run in the grass Even when the other kids pointed and laughed at her, she just walked with her parents, holding their hands.

He never saw her in school. He didn’t think she went to one.

Whenever she walked by him, he was too busy flying kites to say hi, but he didn’t laugh at her.

He didn’t even know what her voice sounded like.

“INCOMING!” The basketball flew through the air towards him, and he ducked. It hit the kite string and snapped it in two, and all that Aang was left with was the plastic kite spool. The girl who had shouted flung her arms around his middle and bore him to the ground, scrambling over him to chase after the ball again. Her pretty green satin dress was hiked up around her knees and covered with mud and grass, and his kite was floating away, its snapped string trailing behind.

“What are you doing!” he cried out, wiping the mud and pebbles off his cheek. “Are you crazy?”

She grinned, catching up with the ball and bouncing it off her knees. She flopped down on the grass beside him and curled around the basketball “I was playing soccer.”

“You knocked me over!” He sat down next to her, hand still wrapped around his kite string spool.

“Yeah, well if you were on my team, I wouldn’t have.”

“You’re not supposed to tackle anybody in soccer.” He glanced at her. “Besides, you don’t have a team.”

She leaned back against the grass and stared up at the sun. “So?”

“You’re not supposed to do that,” he whispered. “You could go blind.

She waved a hand in front of her face and blinked really fast. “Been there, done that.”

He stared, feeling awful. “You’re blind? How did you know where the ball was?”

“I knew where I kicked it, duh.”

“So,” he said lightly, feeling awful and stupid. “Where are your parents today?”

She picked at a clump of grass. “I snuck out.”

“Oh.” He watched his kite drifting further and further away. “I’ll be on your team if you want me to.”

“If you’re just saying that because I’m blind, I’ll kick your ass, Twinkletoes.”

Modern Day: Sleepover

“How does ‘Aang’s grandfather’s going to be out of town for the weekend, and he’s feeling a little lonely’ equal ‘Let’s go to Aang’s place and throw a huge party, with alcohol?’” Katara demanded, glowering at the snack table her brother had set up, and the one unfortunate guest who had shown up.

“How does it not mean that?” Sokka squawked.

“I dunno, but it’s a good thing no one showed up,” Toph said from the couch, feet in the air.

Katara looked at her, surprised. “Thank you, Toph!”

“Because Sokka didn’t manage to score nearly enough beer.”

Katara rolled her eyes.

“I must be really unpopular if I can’t even get anybody to come over to my house for free beer,” Aang muttered despondently.

Giving Sokka one last dirty look, Katara sat down next to her friend and put her arm around his shoulder. “That’s not true, Aang, You’ve got us, right?”

The lone party guest, some kid named Zuko from Sokka’s pre-calculus class that they barely knew, glanced at the door, and then at Katara and Aang, and back at the door. “I’ll... Just go, now...”

“Oh no you don’t!” Sokka threw his arm around Zuko’s shoulder and pulled him back towards the living room. “I worked hard to get that twelve-pack and a bottle of vodka, and we’re not letting them go to waste!”

“Wha-”

“SLEEPOVER!”

This is a sadistic little verse that likes to get it’s claws into me and whisper more things I could write in it. Now that you have fed it, it shall never let me go again! (Noooooooooo!)



Song pushed open the sliding door and stepped out onto the porch. “Can I join you?” she asked, sitting down beside him before he had a chance to answer. “I know what you’ve been through. We’ve all been through it. The Fire Nation has hurt you.”

Zuko’s muscles knotted up, and he had to force himself to stay seated and not bolt away. When she reached up and tried to touch his scar, it was almost a relief, just to move, to do something, to snatch her hand out of the air and hold it away.

“It’s okay,” she told him, slipping her hand out of his and clasping the fabric of her skirt. “They’ve hurt me, too.” She pulled the cloth up, over her knee to show him the thick lines of burn scars twining up her leg.

Zuko’s breath caught in his throat, and he couldn’t force anything past his lips. He lurched to his feet, so angry he could barely see. They were his people, and they were dead...

And they were all dead.

He and Uncle were all alone, and nothing was going to change that.

The young doctor reached out her hand to him, and smiled, unsure. “Just because something terrible happened to them doesn’t mean you have to forget they hurt you.”

Sparks crackled at his fingertips. Licks of flame flicked out of his mouth. He spun around to face her.

And they died.

He sank to the ground, choking on his sobs, and she stared at him, wide eyed and ready to scream.

Okay, this turned out way more depressing than it was supposed to. Failfish. D:




Zuko hated humans. He hated tricky humans, with collars, and spells, who caught him when his guard was down, and made him come when he was called. Zuko hated them, he hated them, he hated them...

And when this was all over, there was a certain summoning admiral who was going to die slowly and-

“Get your hands off me!”

The Water Tribe boy snatched his hands back, squinting at Zuko. “Wait,” he said suspiciously. “I thought you were trying to seduce me.

Zuko made an indistinct sound in the back of his throat. “I mean...”

He didn’t know what he meant. He hunched in on himself and gazed at the spiritless body of the Avatar, and then back at the girl sucking on his neck and drawing hearts on his shoulder blades. He could feel her need, and her desperation, and the way his magic fogged her mind a little more with every touch. He shook his head.

“Your hair!” She poked it, making it swing. “It’s like a little handle!”

And the Water Tribe boy, her brother, Spirits, he was going to kill Zhao, somehow, was coming back to himself more and more every second he didn’t touch Zuko, and...

Zuko didn’t want him to touch him. He didn’t want either of them to touch him.

Zuko grabbed his hand and pulled him down. He pressed his lips to the other boy and wrapped his arms around him until the Water Tribe boy’s eyes dilated, and his smile grew silly and blissful.

The soldiers came and carried the Avatar away. By the time he woke up, he would already be in chains.

The admiral was probably going to send Zuko back to the Spirit world without anything, too. Like he did last time. And the time before. And the time before that.

Zuko wanted to kill him, to carve all his skin off in one strip, and watch his innards fall out, and then go home.

He wanted to go home, instead of the cold, empty, little Spirit World cage Zhao had built for him.

And Zuko wanted so bad not to have to come when called.
