Birthday AU Commentfic Meme!

It’s my birth month, and to celebrate, I’m hosting a commentfic meme!  I’m in the mood to write some AU fics, so that’s the theme of the meme.  I’m open to both Avatar: the Last Airbender and Harry Potter requests, and I’m also taking requests in any of my existing AUs (Except Children of Mars), including the ones I established im my last commentfic meme, as well as new ones.  Comment with up to five requests, and I’ll guarantee you at least one commentfic.  I’ll probably answer with more, knowing me.  weirdlet , beboots , and floranna  get seven requests and a guarantee of two fics, because beboots  and floranna  are the best betas ever, and weirdlet  has a truly bizarre AU I inflicted on her rattling around in her head.  Also, anyone who wants me to write anything from my AU of Sun Child needs to ask weirdlet  and floranna , because it’s theirs.

The last testament of Shespa, Air Nomad

I have found it, to late, but I, I finally understand t. I cannot save myself, but I leave this, in the hope that future generations will understand.

As a younge child I was always facinated by stories of the Avatar. The great tyrant which the world must united to destroy. How each terrible one was cast down, by trickery, skill, grand alliance or saddest of all, those who died of old age, terrorizing the land until then. Yet time and again there was one thing I could not understand. How did the Avatar's rise up?

They were not born into power, they had to learn each element, yet time and again they would. How? I asked the elder, and later, as I traveled the nations, I asked others, the Fire Sages, Water Wise Women, nuns, enlightened travelers. Yet always the the answered were the same, greed, power, evil, a hatred of the system.

And yet these answeres never satified me. For how could they be so foolish. Every child knows the stories of the Avatars, and every child knows that they will kill their teachers as readily as anyone else, how could anyone hope to gain?

But I have learned. When the call came out to opposed the new Avatar, I joinied readily, helping to spy and track his movements. And as I did, I watched and understood the true power of the Avatar.

For the Avatar's power lies in far more than the Avatar State and multiple bending. It's true power lies in what it can do to people. The Avatar can, effect people, I do not now how. It comes to them, and those around it are changed.

This is how the Avatar learns it's elements. Sometimes it warps the perceptions of those around it, taking a cruel delight in having it's first teacher view it as a loving, dutiful child, only to break it's heart with a sadistic glee when it is ready to leave. Sometimes it warps the desire of those it wants, making them angries, more submissive, greedier, whatever it needs to get them to follow it.

Beware this power, for it is vast, and subtle. I wish I could do more but, the Avatar needs an Airbender, and my opposition has drawn his attention. Even now I can feel myself, feel myself changing. I feel rage, anger, anger at the world, the world which stands by as I can changed and controled and that won't listen to me (here the writing trails off into scribble and torn pages)

no, no I must stay focused. I, I cannot keep this book. For soon I would gleefully tear it apart with my own hands. I have sealed in in this waterprof satchel, and dropped it in the rivine so I would not be able to find it. Please if you find this, let the world know. Let them know of the true danger of facing the Avatar.

Oh goodness, I think my favorite part is how Zuko is the lame kid who was the only one outside the group to show up to Aang's party. SO AWKWARD.

One little thing, "lame"is a word of ableist connotations (ableism is the belief that people with disabilities are less valuable than people without them, or that people with disabilities act a certain way or any number of the insidious sorts of predudice people with disabilities face). "Lame" in this use is a word that tries to equate physical disability with dweebishness. As a woman with disabilities, I'd appreciate if you didn't use it. I KNOW YOU PROBABLY WEREN'T THINKING ABOUT IT'S MEANING IN CONJUNCTION WITH DISABILITY WHEN YOU WROTE IT. I just wanted you to know it's a hurtful word in this context.

I apologize for using hurtful language, though you're right, I wasn't intending to be insulting when I used it. In respect to the original meaning of the word "lame", though I was aware of the ableist connotations and original meaning of the word, the reason I didn't think of it was primarily due to the fact that I have never in my life referred to a disabled person as "lame". I do understand where you're coming from, however; I feel the same way about people using the word "gay" to mean something stupid. In retrospect, I should have been more considerate in my word choice.

...also, I was still kind of drunk when I replied. So there's also that. ;P

For a while (as anyone who has read my earlier fanfic knows) "lame" was my go-to word for clumsy phrases and dweebishness. I've left it mostly intact for archival reasons, but someday, I'm going to go back and edit it out.

Can you elaborate how he will fire bend and learn to compensate missing a leg, (western air temple, firebending masters, agnikai with azula and Katara helps him kick azula's ass!!) In the spirit of the last bunch. I loved it i want more more more (happy birthday :-) )

learning to firebend to defeat azula, how does he learn to use heat similar to how Toph uses earthbending. how does he experiance his world and what lessons does he learn from "the firebending masters". Also continue the zuko loses leg theme. both are wonderful and I would love more . . .much much more. Thanks for piqueing my curiosity . . . love your style.

oh HEY you're right. OKAY THEN:

4) Series!AU: Toph is the one who wakes up Aang.

5) ModernDay!AU: Katara nominates Toph for homecoming queen as a joke. To everyone's surprise, she makes it into the top five and has to participate in all of the bullshit "Homecoming Week" activities. Toph is Not Pleased.

1) blind-zuko: Zuko to help him navigate has a begun to use steal a marsh grown oak cane or quarterstaff, it also is rather handy in a fight.

2) fail!Incubus Zuko: Zuko meeting and/or courting Mai

3) Zuko is dying after the assassination attempt by Zhao and the Pirates [that sounds like a good name for a band] and makes a pact with Davy Jones (here an aspect of Tui) for life and revenge.

4) The GAang as mysterymen (like the Shadow, Lobster Johnson, Green Hornet, etc.) in the 20’s, 30’s.
Suggested plot is that the Blue Spirits secret identity, Zuko Fajro the son the cities Godfather, has just been found out by the rest of the GAang.
