It’s my birth month, and to celebrate, I’m hosting a commentfic meme! I’m in the mood to write some AU fics, so that’s the theme of the meme. I’m open to both Avatar: the Last Airbender and Harry Potter requests, and I’m also taking requests in any of my existing AUs (Except Children of Mars), including the ones I established im my last commentfic meme, as well as new ones. Question: did you have any inspiration for it? (I think i personally would have gone a bit more fimbulvinter on the Avatar world)

I briefly contemplated making the world go into an ice age, but during ice ages, certain areas of the world become much more fertile, for example, equatorial deserts, and having grown up in Florida, I have a feeling a cool off would have made a lot of people in the Fire Nation very happy. It wouldn't really have made civilization disintegrate the way plants just not growing and animals including people just not being born.

All manufacture is rare all over the whole world. Since almost all time is spent trying to obtain food, no one has time to learn metallurgy, or weaving, or what have you. The manufactured goods that remain are remnants of the time before Aang was frozen, or the years just after, when it wasn't as bad yet.

gotta love gullible bad guy with 12 year old mentality and no attention span-too freaking funny. circus! (shiny oooooooo). I once was having a serious discussion with my sister and a bunny ran across the yard. (we were on the phone) and I actually said "ooooo bunny" and promptly forgot what I was talking about. So that really does work with some people and can be very funny.

stayed at work late last night and almost wrote my hand off literally (4 hours straight of non-computerized writing). knowing i felt like c@#p and would sleep most of the day & me slow writer. so I stayed home with 2 sick kids and myself sick too. I have a very nice husband who watched the kids while I slept. Ive enjoyed trading thoughts with you in the past. If I remember correctly law student? or PoliSci?

Man, that's miserable. At least my siblings and I usually managed to stagger being sick so my mom didn't have to deal with more than one of us sick that often.

It might be nice the first years but then you realize that your fruit trees has stopped blooming and there is this stream of climate refugees coming to your land from the south and the north. (Now I se a propaganda poster of a Water tribesman proclaiming something like "Illegal emigrants - here for your land and your women!")

Even if most of the manufacture knowledge is gone [side adventure: 'Zuko and the quest after the riddle of steel'] there should be a loot of hand-me-down weapon and gear from Sozin's time

Actually, the Si Wong desert would suddenly be arable as the Sahara was during the big ice ages, and a whole big chunk of the Earth Kingdom would suddenly be able to support a bigger population. An ice age would be a mixed bag.

That's why Ozai has a certain amount of power left in this world. He controls the biggest source of hand-me-down loot. Also, manufactured goods don't last as long as they should. Everything's going to rot.

“Devastated, the woman unleashed a terrible display of her earthbending power.” Katara paused with a smile. Aang grinned. It was about to get good. “She could have destroyed them all. But instead she declared the war over. Both villages helped her build a new city where they would live together in peace.” As Katara finished, she rolled her eyes and glanced back at Aang. “It says ‘Love is brightest in the dark.’”

Aang leaned against the tomb wall and and huffed. Stupid story. Just when he had thought it was going to get good, the woman wimped out, and just-

“I don’t get it,” Katara muttered, glancing back at the mural resentfully. “I mean, they killed him. She should have made them pay.”

Aang smiled warmly, but when Katara looked his way, he hid it hastily. “So how are we going to find our way out of here?”

Katara shrugged helplessly, but her eyes landed on the mural again, and then on the relief of the two lovers kissing. “I have a crazy idea.”

“What?”

Katara shook her head. “Never mind, it’s too crazy.”

“We’re stuck down here. It’s not like idea you have is going to make it worse.”

“I was thinking… the curse says we’ll be trapped in here forever unless we trust in love.”

“Right…” It didn’t really sound like what Avatars were supposed to trust in.

“And here it says ‘love is brightest in the dark’ and…” Katara looked down. “Has a picture of them kissing.”

“Um...”

Katara still couldn’t meet his eyes. “Maybe we should kiss?”

Aang smiled with pure, soppy joy. “Us… kissing…”

Sounds perfect!! You probabally walked in similar shoes to that of your future clients. Partly why I became a therapist. I wanted to work with children like I used to be. Only I cant teach anyone how to write so I had to move on to working with adults and helping them learn to reach their potential after injury or stroke or adapt to learn alternate way of doing the same task and retooling their environment to better support them. I love what I do!! H

It fuses really well? Anyway- I think I saw someone else make a similar request as I was thinking of later on in the meme, wherein Zuko makes a deal with Davey Jones. I was thinking in a slightly different direction- Katara encountering, becoming, discombobulating, whatever, our favorite tentacled cranky captain.

Zuko had two faces, one of which was always grinning.

When Mai gave it to him, she said it he needed to smile more, or smile at all, but that wasn’t a smile on the other face. It was a fearsome, toothy lear.

Zuko didn’t want to smile anyway.

The only thing he wanted to do was get back to his mountain, spew lava and ash, and chase all the humans off the slopes, no matter how nice the gifts they left at his alter were.

First Zhao, then Jet, who hated fire so much he hated volcano spirits who had nothing to do with the war, then Azula, who... Who was Azula.

Mai was Azula’s friend, but she gave him the wooden face anyway. Mai didn’t smile, but she thought he should.
