Birthday AU Commentfic Meme!

It’s my birth month, and to celebrate, I’m hosting a commentfic meme!  I’m in the mood to write some AU fics, so that’s the theme of the meme.  I’m open to both Avatar: the Last Airbender and Harry Potter requests, and I’m also taking requests in any of my existing AUs (Except Children of Mars), including the ones I established im my last commentfic meme, as well as new ones.  Comment with up to five requests, and I’ll guarantee you at least one commentfic.  I’ll probably answer with more, knowing me.  weirdlet , beboots , and floranna  get seven requests and a guarantee of two fics, because beboots  and floranna  are the best betas ever, and weirdlet  has a truly bizarre AU I inflicted on her rattling around in her head.  Also, anyone who wants me to write anything from my AU of Sun Child needs to ask weirdlet  and floranna , because it’s theirs.

Let's see...

1) What's Aang like in an Evil!Mirror 'verse AU? (You know how Star Trek shows always have that one mirror 'verse where good people are evil and evil are good? (And Spock has a goatee?)).

2) Give me a Harry Potter fusion! One cast member of from Avatar's first day at Hogwarts. Are they muggle-born? Where are they sorted? Ect.

3) "Aang had always truly wondered if all of the Air Nomads had been killed more than 100 years ago, but he never expected to find this."

4) It was just another wacky day onboard the Federation Starship USS Avatar....

5) Lastly... give me a spooky Avatar Halloween story, please! Like Simpson's Tree-house of Horrors, only with the GAang. :D

Oh man... I'm going to have to post a few requests now and more later, when I think on it a bit more? It's getting late and my brain isn't working!

-Blind!Zuko AU - how much respect does Zuko get from the Gaang, initially, when they first meet/realize that he's blind? What does he do to earn that respect?

-Blind!Zuko AU (I just loved this universe) - Zuko and Toph bonding over shared experiences. Could be trading tips, or both not knowing how to dress so that colours match properly.

-Mai, AU of season 2, taking Azula's plan down from the inside (mostly because Zuko can't or won't). (I request this mostly because I know how much you enjoy Mai.)

-Zuko and Kuei, chillin' together as only rulers of the free world can. Any AU. I just love how you write Kuei. ;)

Another Wacky Day: Sokka3PO’s going to need some serious cactus juice after this.

I’m only the most casual of Star Trek fans, so you get Star Wars instead. This grew a lot bigger in my mind than I’m writing here, but Iroh Wan Kenobi, Aang Skywalker, Toph Solo, Jet Calrissian, and Prince Zuko Organa are also running around.

Jet wants to garrote me for making him a collaborator, you know.





“This is all your fault.”

KataraD2 gave an indignant beep and kept rolling over the dunes.

“You hear what I said? It’s your fault we’re stuck on this stupid planet,” Sokka3PO howled, his voice rising on every word. “In the stupid middle of nowhere, with this stupid sand getting into everything. It’s all your fault!”

KataraD2 trilled, amused, just infuriating the other droid further.

“You just had to steal those stupid plans from those stupid space pirates. You couldn’t leave it alone, could you? Noooooo-”

The little droid had a way of beeping that sounded just like it was saying “Sokka!” The other droid knew KataraD2 had a mission. It new it.

“And that’s another thing. If you say one more word about your stupid mission-” KataraD2’s wheels kicked up a stray pebble and sent it flying into Sokka3PO’s head. “Yeeurgh!”

Rocking back and forth on her wheels, KataraD2 flickered her lights with laughter.

“If my gears gum up with sand, it’s going to be all your fault!

KataraD2 ignored him cheerfully.

“Stupid droid!”

KataraD2 had really thought an interpreter droid would have a more varied vocabulary.

The blood started to drip down her arms. “Now,” he grinned. Azula shuddered. Children weren’t supposed to look like- “Are you going to tell us where your father and brother are hiding?”

3. I've seen a couple future based AU's floating around for Avatar. How about your take on it? (type is open to what ever you want. Cyberpunk, space opera, giant robots). Only stipulation is bending (or some equivalent) must be included and relavent.

4. The Avatar is far more than the keeper of balance, it is also the spirit of the earth. When Aang went to sleep for 100 years, it had consequences. The earth began to sleep as well, crops were less hardy, animals did not replinish as fast, water grew stagnant faster, even the mines seemed to produce less ore. By the time Aang wakes up the great civilizations have fallen, and he finds himself in a post apocalyptic wasteland of scattered tribes.

1. A follow-up to that fill where Azula's lightning strike on Zuko has serious consequences (http://attackfish.livejournal.com/53604.html?thread=250212#t250212). That line in the original fill about them needing to have a kid as quickly as possibly was disturbing and really stuck with me.

2. Gyatso convinces his fellow elders not to reveal the truth to Aang until he turns sixteen. When Sozin's Comet arrives, the Fire Nation attacks. Aang blacks out only to wake up totally alone, surrounded by shattered mountains and the ruins of the temple. And he has no effing clue what the hell happened.

3. A hundred years ago, when Sozin orchestrates the Air Nomad genocide, he orders their sky-bison calves be spared and collected. Not out of mercy, but so they can serve the Fire Nation as ariel calvary once the dragons are extinct. Over the decades, some are captured by the other nations and bred for similar purposes. When Aang awakens, he finds a world bursting with sky-bison and their riders.

4. Ozai, wanting to keep a short leash on the Dragon of the West, doesn't allow Iroh to join Zuko on his exile. What becomes of scarboy over the next three years?

5. During the Siege of the North, Sokka isn't taken off Hahn's suicide mission to assassinate Admiral Zhao.

Aaaand apparently for this AU, Which takes place post DH everyone is the same age.



Zuko was born in Azkaban. Zuko’s mom was dead now. If Zuko’s mom weren’t dead, she would hunt him down and kill him.

He fiddled with the yellow and black tie and kept his head down.

No one knew who his father was. His mom was married, but he didn’t know if that even mattered, and now, she wasn’t telling anyone. Bellatrix Lestrange’s son couldn’t even claim to be a Pureblood. It was a disgrace. He felt vaguely ashamed it didn’t matter to him.

Zuko clasped his wand in his pocket and fingered the carving on the handle. It was his Uncle Iroh’s great grandfather’s.

Uncle Iroh’s great grandfather had been a Hufflepuff. This was his fault.

Never give up without a fight.

He wondered if his mom even knew he existed. She’d been so crazy for so long, and besides, that’s what war orphanages were for.

Most people there had families killed by someone named Lestange.

The common room was a bright, sunny yellow that made him crave windows and air. But it was underground. There were no windows. There was nothing but yellow and laughing people.

As a girl flung herself down onto the sofa beside him, it almost toppled over under the force of her. She was tiny. She shouldn’t be able to do that. “So what’s with the ponytail?” She asked, grabbing it.

Zuko pried her hand off, but her fingers came away with a few black strands. “It’s mine!” he yelped.

“Yeah yeah yeah.” She folded her arms and propped up her feet on his lap. “So everyone’s talking about you.”

“Great.”

“Stop it.” She winked at him, and he squinted, trying to figure out what was wrong with her eyes. “Tonight, you and me are finding a way out of here.”

“What?” he stared at her blankly.

She punched his arm. “I hear there are all kinds of secret passages around!”

Zuko pressed himself into the sofa cushions, away from her, his eyes darting over the room miserably before he nodded. She was going to be his friend whether he liked it or not.

Mirrorverse, Meetings

There’s probably something incredibly sacrilegious about turning the Avatar Spirit into an Eldritch Abomination.




Aang’s eyes opened. The ice around him cracked open wide and spat him out, and when he gazed into the eyes of the girl who had broken him out, he struggled to hide his glee. “Thank you so much!” he crowed, smiling at her winningly.

“You’re the Avatar!” she said in wonder. She glanced back at her brother. “Sokka, he’s the Avatar!”

Aang sprang out of her arms. She knew, sheknewsheknewsheknew, she was going to lock him up again like the monks-

He could still feel them burying him in the ice, his head heavy with the drugs they had fed him...

They couldn’t kill him, or a new Avatar would be born, and they would have to find him before he took over the world and bled it dry, like Avatar Roku.

He sank down in a fighting stance, but his legs trembled beneath him with weakness, and his arms kept trying to sink to his sides.

The blue eyed girl and her brother glanced at each other significantly. “Oh you poor thing!” she exclaimed, voice oozing sweetness “Let’s get you to the village.”

They had plans for him. They were trying to manipulate him. It was almost cute.

Also... Toph? For a moment, I thought "Ty Lee", but then I saw the bit about the eyes. I have to wonder, though, why Toph didn't end up in Slytherin? Or does she have no ambition because she's ALREADY badass and therefore doesn't have much to aspire to? ;)

Oh man... Puppy-Rescuing!Azula would be a VERY strange beast... ;) I also have to wonder how Zuko would turn out in this verse. Is HE the sibling that all of the turtleducks are terrified of? Would he start out vaguely good in season one and descend into darkness and insanity?

But man, loyal!Azula is neat to read. As is evil!Aang.

“You three have some explaining to do.” The village headman glared down at the captives, arms folded across his chest. Aang gulped.

Behind him, a knot of girls with strange face paint, in strange red and gold armor eyed them impassively. Their leader stood to the headman’s side. “And if you don't answer all our questions, we're throwing you back in the water with the Unagi.”

“Fire Nation!” Sokka gasped. “You’re-”

Katara tried to stick her elbow in her brother’s mouth, but it didn’t quite work. It left a trail of saliva running down her arm. “Ew...”

“That’s it,” snapped the leader of the girls. “Throw them to the Unagi.”

The headman glanced up in exasperation. “Suki!”

Sokka struggled to pull himself up on his bound legs, but he just managed to roll onto his side. “Who are you? Where are the men who ambushed us?”

“There were no men.” Leaping forward, Suki land in the middle of the captives, fist trailing fire as the brought it down next to Sokka’s head. “We ambushed you. Now tell us, who are you and what are you doing here?”

Aang giggled anxiously. “Well, you see, there’s this, well...”

The headman’s eyes narrowed. “How do we know you're not Fire Nation spies? Kyoshi stayed free of the Firelord so far, and we intend to keep it that way!”

“Wait,” Katara cut in. “So you’re not ruled by the Firelord?”

“This island is named for Kyoshi? I know Kyoshi!” Aang tapped his upper lip with his finger. “I thought she was an earth Avatar, though... She’s one of my past lives! I’m the Av-”

Sokka slammed his body into Aang’s. “Shut up.”

Aang scowled at him and snapped his bonds and back-flipped over the crowd, bending the air around him to make himself go higher. “So anybody want to teach me firebending?”

Aw man, I haven’t even looked at a D&D book since I was nine! So you’re getting some half-remembered Dragnlance stuff instead. None of the things you’ve prompted me with are my fandoms, I mean, woe is me.




Hey Sweetness, you’re like precious metal, if you wanna come down to my forge, I could go at you with hammer and tongs all night long."

The elf princess put her head in her hands and pushed herself away from the dwarf girl.

Sokka glared at the dwarf. “You don’t even have a “hammer and tongs”.

Toph grinned. “Wanna bet?”

Sokka turned green, which Toph thought could really help him, what with the forest living and all. “I didn’t need to know that.”

“In fact, your sister here, touched them.”

“DID NOT NEED TO KNOW THAT!”

“When she was stealing my new war helm.” Toph folded her stubby arms. “She molested my forge! Give it back, Sugarqueen, or I swear by the gods, I’ll-”

The war helm hit her in the head.
